Licences and documents
- A valid driving licence of the right class for the vehicle.
- National ID or passport, and the truck’s documents in the cab.
- Any permits the cargo or route needs, including cross-border documents for transit loads.
On the road
- No alcohol or drugs on duty.
- Follow the Traffic Act, speed limits and weighbridge instructions. Do not overload.
- Take proper rest breaks. Do not drive when fatigued.
- Do not carry passengers or extra cargo that is not on the booking.
At loading and delivery
- Arrive at the agreed time and check in with the dispatch desk.
- Check the cargo count and condition before signing for it, and note any damage.
- Secure the load properly with straps, tarpaulins or seals as needed.
- Get the consignee to sign the delivery note and upload the e-POD photo before leaving.
Incidents
If there is an accident, breakdown, theft or delay, make sure everyone is safe, then call the dispatch desk. Do not move or open sealed cargo unless the police or the dispatch desk tells you to.
Conduct
Treat shippers, consignees and loading staff with respect. Asking for extra payments outside the agreed rate is not allowed and will get a transporter removed from the platform.
